December 2021 / Subproject “User´s Participation”
We wish everyone a pleasant winter break and a happy new year 2022!
In the meantime, we have been able to evaluate a large part of the group discussions and have developed a draft questionnaire on this basis. With the help of participants from the group discussion and young people from residential groups, we have been able to check the questionnaire for comprehensibility and missing content. We are currently preparing the final testing.
November 2021 / Subproject “User´s Participation”
On November 30th, we had the pleasure of presenting our first research results at the annual conference “Politisierung von Jugend” (Politicization of Youth) of the Center for Childhood and Youth Research (ZKJF) at Bielefeld University.
July 2021 / Subproject “Participation of Employees”
The survey and evaluation of the expert interviews in Germany and England was successfully completed. In May 2021, the survey of employees’ perspectives was started.
June 2021 / Subproject “User´s Participation”
On 4 June, the sub-project “Participation and well-being in educational support” was a guest at a meeting of the heads of the youth welfare offices in Hamburg. There we had the opportunity to present the project and the first preliminary results. The presentation was followed by a small, interested and positive discussion.
Such discussions have gained particular relevance because the reform of SGB VIII (” Kinder- und Jugendstärkungsgesetz”) has now formulated a legal entitlement to self-representation in child and youth welfare services in section 4a of SGB VIII. We hope that our project will contribute to the professional realisation of this legal entitlement!
Under the editorship of Prof.’in Zoë Clark, the Special Issue “Is Out-of-Home Care in a Crisis? Perspectives Child and Youth Welfare Systems in Northern Europe and Germany” has been published. Among other things, Coco Klußmann and Lukas Underwood present the theoretical stance of the sub-project ” Participation of professionals in the assistance for education” to approach employees’ working conditions in residential child and youth care.
March 2021 / Sub-project “User’s Participation”
At the beginning of March, we completed our last group discussion and are now starting the evaluation. We would like to thank all participants for their interest, their commitment and the exciting discussions!
The date for the first research-practice exchange meeting (FoPra) has been set: On April from 12.00 to 14.00 the practice partners and researchers of the geste project will meet in the digital space. We are looking forward to a stimulating exchange.
